Updated: Imdiscog.com is running out of disk space

Updated: We've reached our goal of $144, and the good news is I've already registered for the new hosting plan and Hasweb has given us 1 free year of hosting (not including domain registration) until next October. At that point, we'll be billed $144 for 3 years. I hope to new content uploaded soon. Stay tuned.

Original Post:
It was bound to happen sooner or later folks. Unless I delete some of your favorite content on the backside of the site, a new hosting package will need to be purchased. If you'd like to see even more content that I've been holding off uploading to the site because of space, please donate using the link below (which will take you to the disclaimer page where you'll click another Paypal link to make the actual donation).

The next package up will cost $144 for a three year term. We'd see a dramatic increase in disk space from 2 gigs to 500 gigs with unlimited bandwith. Meaning, well, no more download limits!

Donations goal has been reached: $144!

Debut album 20th year anniversary

Yes, it really has been 20 years since the 1989 self-titled debut album. Not only am I turning 40 this week, but now I'm feeling even more dated. In contrast, I've put together a compilation of tracks found on the debut album performed live over the A&M years (1990-1996) with one notable exception: there's no known live recording of "Mercy". In its place, I've included a performance of "Pride Takes A Fall" (non-album track). Whenever possible, I've tried to use their latter performances, as these were typically recorded to DAT, sound better, and are more simplified in their structure. This will hopefully lure the attention of the Innocence Mission's newer fans to that of their old music. I hope you enjoy the songs.

Also available on CD, and a streamable version, is Ronald of Orange's cover of "Today" on his debut EP, Brush Away the Cobwebs.

Donating just got easier

Running Imdiscog.com isn't free, and because the site does not receive any financial advertising support, that means I rely on donations to build the site for all you fans. So even if you just want to send a dollar, anything is acceptible. If you're strapped for cash, it's completely okay. All of the content on this site is free for everyone who visits.

Anyway, I've set up a more automated process for donating through Paypal. You no longer have to enter my email address to donate. It's all handled automatically by clicking the link below. For those wishing to see the financial balance sheets (which do not include personal purchases of Innocence Mission specific items), visit the disclaimer page.

Umbrella cover artwork explained

Here's a quote I found on an Innocence Mission Facebook group posting from May 4, 2009:

"I met Karen Peris on South Street in Philadelphia aboput ten years ago. The band was about to play a show, and she was doing some shopping. She was kind, very shy, and said that she was not used to fans approaching her on the street. She told me that the cover of Umbrella was an actual journal of hers, with the picture super imposed over it." - Gerard Schuler Jr

Harvest Rock Syndicate article

Another rare photo of the band has turned up in the Harvest Rock Syndicate.

The article itself is more centered around Karen's personality and songwriting than any of the other band members, but it's an interesting read.

Update: "Weathered"

I received a nicely packaged DVD of Weathered last week and thought I would advance a preview. First off, Weathered is a short film clocking in at just over 18 minutes. I'd rather not spoil the plot, so I'm including a modified summary from the DVD jacket:

"An intimate portrait of a woman trapped in time. Retreating deep within herself, Weather longs for connection and reaches out the only way she knows how...by going to the doctor."

I really did enjoy this film and the use of music was well received. Considering how the band's tracks have been used in past films such as Empire Records, I'm sure the band was quite pleased after reeviewing the footage. The newly re-recorded "Our Harry" runs a little over 30 seconds longer than the original recording found on the album Glow thanks to some additional editing from Matt, but the differences in performance are minimal, excluding the repeated chorus at the end of the song. As stated in my previous post, "Our Harry" is used in its entirety (as is "Brotherhood of Man"). The one standout between the two recorded versions, besides the extension, is the noticeable production clarity of the latter version. Don's attention to detail has resulted in a cleaner recording with less microphone pop as the original.

Lastly, a little more on the crew and cast of Weathered. Matt Barber has served as an editor on such tv shows as Chuck and The O.C.. Lead actress, Nicole Parker, is a regular on MADtv, and supporting actor Tony Hale appears regularly on Chuck as Emmett Milbarge. Actors Cynthia Avila and Tanc Sade (who plays Harry D. Mun) have also acted on various nationally televised TV series.

Notebored Nov/Dec1989 Article

I peruse Ebay every now and then for items that may be of interest to fans like myself. This week has turned up several new items that hadn't been widely seen. Today turned up a rare live photo of Karen Peris from Christian music magazine Notebored.

Their Nov/Dec 1980 issue featured an article with two photos. A debut album promo shoot photo was used along side the photo shown above.

Once the magazine arrives, I'll see if there are any interesting highlights worth posting as well as do a proper scan of the photo (the above picture is a photo of the photo) and update this news item.

Two new Glow era additions to the site

It would appear there were two variations of the Glow ice skating tour shirt. See below for the ever slight changes in text. More t-shirt images can be found in the photos Gallery.

Also recently discovered was another promotional cassette release for "Bright As Yellow" with the same track on both sides.

MP3 updates

Updated: The "One For Sorrow, Two For Joy" single that was recently pulled from the iTunes store is back in both the UK & French stores.

Original Post:
For those who purchase their music as mp3s, the single "One For Sorrow, Two For Joy" (which includes the exclusive track, "Peace Be With You") is available in the UK and French iTunes stores, but is NOT available in the US market. The OFSTFJ single (CD & vinyl) is out of print as it would appear that Agenda Music is no longer in business.

We Walked In Song, the French version (which includes the bonus tracks "Sketch", "Do You See My Brothers Coming" and "Song From Holland"), is available in mp3 format in both the UK and French iTunes stores and in the UK Amazon.com store. Sadly, it is not available in the US.
